Changes To Birmingham Council's Bulk Collection

Posted in Skip Services by Skiphire UK on June 27th, 2014

Since April 1st, Birmingham City Council has made changes to their large and bulky collection scheme, which imposes restrictions on what they will and won’t carry away from your home. With cheap skip hire in Birmingham available from Skip Hire UK, you can avoid these by hiring one of our brilliant and versatile skips.

What Are The Changes?

Birmingham City Council’s waste collection teams will no longer be collecting the following items:

  • Any type of garden waste including shrubberies, tree branches and bushes.
  • Their teams will not be collecting large items alongside normal household waste.
  • Broken glass or glass panels.
  • Sheds
  • Trees
  • Soil
  • Gas Canisters
  • Boilers
  • Sheds Rubble and Building Waste
  • Asbestos

Many items on this list are usually the results of gardening projects and house renovations, plus general household waste, which means they can be easily disposed of or recycled without specialist processes.

Furthermore, there is a restriction on the number of items that the city council will take away. Six items is the maximum items allowed to be collected from your home. As you can see, the new service is quite restrictive. This is where skip hire in Birmingham from Skip Hire UK can help you out!

Amazing Skip Hire Prices for Birmingham With Skip Hire UK

At Skip Hire UK, we are committed to helping our customers remove, recycle or dispose as much of their waste as possible. From garden waste, to household items, bulkier objects like sheds and much more, we can help you go green while disposing of your waste. Not only will we collect your rubbish, we aim to recycle as much of it as possible. The rest will be disposed of in an ethical and responsible way.

While Birmingham City Council has imposed restrictions on the amount you can have collected, with a skip from Skip Hire UK you take away almost anything from your property. Hazardous items such as televisions, fridges and biological waste can’t be placed in our skips, but we’re happy to take away anything else!

We have a huge range of skips for you to choose from that are suitable for any project. However, for large, bulky objects, we recommend using one of our builder’s skips. Builder’s skips are the most commonly used skips for projects that generate a lot of waste. This is due to their high capacity. For example, Birmingham City Council will refuse to carry away your garden shed when it comes time to replace it, but with one of our builder’s skips we will happily take any sheds or timber waste with room to spare! So if you need large items disposing of in Birmingham, give us a call here at Skip Hire UK.
